Morrell Middleton

Our policies

Data protection & GDPR

How we comply with UK data protection law and the GDPR.

As an accountancy and business advisory firm, Morrell Middleton already follows clear rules and standards to protect the personal data of our clients and business contacts, and to process it securely.

Why we process data

We process personal data to provide accountancy, tax and advisory services to our clients, whether individuals, companies or organisations, and to keep clients and other interested parties informed about our events, newsletters and service updates. We also process data about our staff (and their family members where needed), our suppliers and visitors to our offices.

Who we share data with

We only share personal data with third parties who help us provide the services we have agreed to give you, or who help us keep you informed about our services. Staff and business contact data is only shared where necessary.

How we meet the requirements

We review the data held across our business to keep improving how we handle it. We only share data when there is a clear need, and we make sure it is passed on securely. Our staff receive ongoing data protection training. Our website and engagement letters explain what we do with your data and how to contact us about it.

Keeping our systems secure

We do all we reasonably can to protect our IT and telephone systems and the data they hold. This includes hardware safeguards, access controls, spam, malware and virus protection, monitoring software and regular testing of our defences against cyber-attack.

Software and services we use

Where we use software or online services from other providers, we look for data care and security standards that match our own. Where that is not possible, we make sure they understand their duty to protect our data and process it lawfully. Some of these services may move data to and from countries outside the UK and EEA, with appropriate safeguards.
