Morrell Middleton was established in 1992 and today, we continue to build on our enviable reputation for providing excellent advice and first class service to our business and personal clients alike. We have many clients in the local community and service businesses, small and large, across many sectors including:

 Steve Morrell FCCA - Proprietor
As owner of the practice, Steve Morrell aims to keep it at the forefront of the accountancy and tax profession through continuous development of the firm. This is achieved by investing in reliable professional people and sound Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Steve has a wealth of experience as a general practitioner, advising on all aspects of accounting, taxation, ICT and finance with his focus on supporting the development of businesses.
He is well versed in supporting start-up, early years and fast track businesses and much of his work revolves around assisting with the development of management information, profit improvement and business planning for clients together with tackling the financial challenges that face business on a regular basis.
Steve has a background in accountancy taking over the reigns of the practice from his father in 2005. Having trained and worked with other accountancy firms in York he joined his father in 1990 in practice. He also spent time working in the Norwich Union’s finance department and was brought up in a “business” environment with both his parents running their own companies since his childhood.
“I understand the pressures, worries and hard work faced by people in their daily business lives and the effect it can have on their personal lives. My advice takes this into consideration.”
Steve’s personal activities include computers, technology, the web, ski-ing, horse racing, DIY and most importantly his family.

 Julie Cave - Small Business Manager
Julie is the firm’s small business manager. As such she deals mainly with sole trader and partnership clients. She is responsible for all routine compliance matters such as VAT returns, accounts and tax computations, but is also on hand to advise on business start-ups, financing, VAT queries, computerisation, Sage training and other such matters of importance to small businesses where business should come first and paperwork second!
She has been working as a manager within smaller accountancy practices in York since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and enjoys the regular interaction with clients and their businesses that is often missing in other practises.
Julie is married with one daughter and enjoys travelling and walking, especially in her homeland of Wales!

 Val Lakey - Tax Consultant
Val is our tax consultant and looks after personal taxation and payroll matters. Having previously worked for the Revenue for 14 years, more latterly as a payroll compliance inspector, she is able to draw on a wealth of experience in these areas.
Val enjoys solving cryptic crosswords and jigsaws and she is currently learning Greek. She is married with 2 daughters.

Recommendation Certificates - Terms and Conditions
- The certificate must be completed by yourself and handed by your recommended person to a member of Morrell Middleton's staff on the day of the initial interview.
- Morrell Middleton and associated companies must not have dealt with this person or entity before in a professional capacity. For example if they work for you and they are becoming self employed then we have not acted for them, if it’s your husband, wife or partner who is starting a new business then we have not acted for them.
- The voucher cannot be redeemed for cash.
- We will only accept one recommendation certificate per person or entity recommended to us. For example if 2 people recommend the same client then we will give the gift voucher only to the person named on the first recommendation certificate we receive.
- We believe the recommended person does have or intend to have a bonafide business or requirement for our services.
- The Recommendation Certificate must be handed in to us by the expiry date.
- You can notclaim for business entities that you are personally invloved in.
- Decisions made by Steve Morrell on entitlement of redemptions are full and final and are not questionable.
